Motorcycle face mask

Motorcycle face mask

If your kid sees a skeleton drive a motorcycle on the highway in winter, give him the benefit of the doubt.

As seen at Dane's Discount, neoprene mask and helmet sold separately.

Also at Dane's recently, a "vegetarian turkey".

Photo-editing project:
Click on the turkey photo (or a helmet photo), save it to your computer and edit them in the photo-editing program of your choice.

Color them / decorate them as you wish and them email them to:
springfieldphotos (@) yahoo.com
and maybe you'll see your coloring work here.

Okay, as long as we're having fun with photoshop,
here's a couple more pics we can photoshop:

Maisenbacher house move: Daytime videos and photos

Maisenbacher House move
Daytime videos and photos
Sunday, November 16 , 2008

The city needed to trim trees and move streetlights for the move.

The future location of the Maisenbacher house.
First they'll need to build a foundation for it.

The next two images are movies.
Just click on the arrow to view them.

They're both under 30 seconds long.

I'm rather surprised that the tv crew for the HGTV series "Haulin' House" wasn't there.
Taking pictures was like watching that show live in person.

Video: Maisenbacher house move

Photos and videos of the Maisenbacher house move down 7th Street

November 15, 2008

Around 5-6pm
Yes, it did start to snow while I was there.
My flash unit conked out, so I used the built in flash on the camera for the above photo.

Then I switched to the little digital camera for the videos.

My thanks to the people providing light for my videos by shining their headlights on the house.

I'm rather surprised that the tv crew for the HGTV series "Haulin' House" wasn't there.
Taking pictures was like watching that show live in person.

Maisenbacher House move set to start

Quote from article:

Preparations are under way to move the Lincoln-era Maisenbacher House five blocks north to its new home on Sunday.

The 19th-century building will be taken from its current location at 1028 S. Seventh St. to 503 S. Seventh St., where an old structure deemed not worthy of saving, the Lewis House, was demolished last week to make way.

On Tuesday, crews started putting 64 wheels — some motorized, some not — under the 300-ton Maisenbacher House.

Golden Corral Weekend Breakfast Buffet

Golden Corral Weekend Breakfast Buffet

Finally, an excellent breakfast buffet in Springfield that doesn't cost $25!

The price for adults $7.39
Senior adults $6.79

We requested water for our beverage and found that juice and milk was included in the breakfast buffet.

They had I think 8 different kinds of juice there, along with chocolate and 2% milk.

Sadly, no chocolate fountain.

I didn't see oatmeal there, but I could've missed it.

They did have grits, so oatmeal might've been there and I just missed it.

There is soooo much there, my photos only cover a small portion of what is there.

My thanks to my breakfast buddies who waited for me to photograph their plates before they dug in. It wasn't easy for them to wait...Especially for their first plate!

Things I would add to this already fantastic buffet:

cinnamon and ginger powder for the waffles

walnuts and pecans for the salads...and for the pancakes and waffles

Option of pancakes and waffles that use whole wheat flour and ground flax seeds.

(don't worry, I'm not suggesting blueberry waffled eggs)

Unsweetened apple sauce for the pancakes and waffles

Stonyfield yogurt (no high fructose corn syrup that way)

Kefir (drinkable yogurt) - could also make fruit smoothies with it.

Whipped cream for the pancakes and waffles

Really healthy breakfast cereal

Skim milk

Some sort of tofu breakfast thing.

These are just suggestions. The breakfast buffet is wonderful already.

I'm just trying to add more fiber to the mix.

What would Dr. Oz want to add to it? Hmmmm.

Leaf burning

Leaf burning

Now that's a bit of a view obstructed street.

I saw kids biking towards the fires.

If they were in the smoke, they'd be almost invisible to a driver.

I'm quite thankful for the clean air legislation regarding public buildings, etc.

Now if we could just get the air cleaned up outside so we can go for a walk in the fall.

A friend of mine recently passed on. A non-smoker with lung cancer.

I wonder if living in a town that burns leaves affected her lifespan.

EPA : Residential leaf burning

Quote from page:

Q: What types of air pollutants are emitted from burning leaf piles?

A: The open burning of leaves produces particulate matter and hydrocarbons, which contain a number of toxic, irritant, and carcinogenic (cancer-causing) compounds. Leaf smoke also contains carbon monoxide.

Q: What is particulate matter and why is it a health concern?

A: The visible smoke from leaf burning is composed of tiny particles that contain a number of pollutants. If inhaled, these microscopic particles can reach the deepest regions of the lung and remain there for months or even years. Breathing particulate matter can increase the chances of respiratory infection, reduce the volume of air inhaled and impair the lungs' ability to use that air. Particulate matter can also trigger asthma attacks in some people.
