Update: November 15, 2008

Humphrey's Bakery is open for business!

They haven't had their grand opening yet, but they are open.

I got there after they had closed,
but their lighting was so pretty at night
I had to share a photo of it.

Check the photo below for hours:

Humphrey’s owners buy four corners at 15th, Ash

Our Opinion: Humphreys’ story is embodiment of American spirit ...

The opening date of THE BAKERY, 2028 S. 15th St., has been pushed back to mid-October.

(update: last I heard mid-November)

Quote from the SJ-R.com
Co-owner Henry Humphrey Jr. said renovation of the building is taking longer than expected, and there have been delays getting exhaust equipment installed. When open, the bakery-cafe at 15th and Ash streets will sell pastries, breads, cakes, cookies, pies, muffins and doughnuts, plus breakfast and lunch.

The exterior has been painted white, and the interior will have a retro look with black and white floor tiles and blue-green walls.

“It’s coming along,” Humphrey said.
