Cara Mongolian Bar-B-Que

Cara Mongolian Bar-B-Que

Cara Mongolian Bar-B-Que just opened in Springfield, IL.

It is located next to the Family Christian Bookstore
between the Target and Walmart on the West side of town.

It is a really great concept, something like the Big Bowl restaurant, but with a different selection.

How this place works...

First you select your bowl size (small, medium or large)
and then pick out your veggies, meat, shrimp, chicken, pork, tofu, pineapple, mushrooms, noodles, etc.

I recommend selecting a little more meat that you think you'll want.

I added a lot of tofu which pretty much dissolved in the cooking process.
You'd never know it was there.

Next you select the sauces.

There is a sign explaining the different recipe options for the sauces or you can choose your own.

The restaurant's owner was my "sauce steward" and did a great job of adding the sauce for my meal.

You can click on a photo for a larger view.
The sauce recipe photo is easier to read that way.

Here's my meal cooking on the wok!

And here is the finished product. Yummy!

Fried rice

Hot and Sour Soup

I chose the large bowl because I wanted leftovers for lunch the next day.
I like that they use the chinese to-go boxes.
The styrofoam boxes tend to melt when you place hot food in them.
Not an issue with these boxes.

FYI: The Google map (as I type this) seems to point to a location across the street from the restaurant. Just look for the restaurant next to the bookstore.
