The parking lot at the sailboat launch did not fare the winter well.

Hopefully this isn't gravel for the sailboat launch parking lot.

Looks like they don't want us parking at the sailboat launch loop anymore. :(

Regarding the above photo,
I don't know the name of this area,
but there appears to be some work being done on it.

The sailboat launch has received a lot of improvements.
A new sign, walking path and a concrete road.
Oddly enough, it didn't get a handrail for their boat dock.

Now that's how to make a proper sandcastle!

Do take note of the water level.

These two photos (above and below) are of the Marine Point boat launch.
Now that is shallow water.

Lake Springfield water levels at the Marina

My family went boating on a 92 degree Sunday afternoon.

We counted 9 deer and about 4 boats.

Sorry, no deer photos. The camera didn't go for a boat ride.
(I drowned one once and I need a new waterproof camera.)

If you look at the photo above (go ahead, click on it for a larger view)
you can see that the water level can sometimes be as high as the concrete before the floating wood dock. It is nowhere near there now.

That's probably the reason for so few boats out on a 90+ degree day.
The longer boats can't launch at the docks at this water depth.

These photos were taken on October 7, 2007.

Any idea what kind of bird he is?

I'm guessing some sort of pelican...but I really don't know.

Wood docks at Lake Springfield Marina

The new wood docks at the Lake Springfield Marina

The new docks are a lot higher than the other non-wood (plastic?) docks.
I'd like to see this area offer features to make it more handicapped and senior accessible.
Some folks need something to help steady themselves as they climb on and off a boat.
Let's make boating accessible to everyone who wants to enjoy the lake.

It does look like fine workmanship in updating the docks with wood.
These used to be similar to the rest of the docks in the area.
